Subject matters or questions in economic essays do not just tackle a single scope or parameter. There are a whole lot of areas on which you can discuss the subject matter at hand. The divide and conquer method is a strategy used when tackling the problem of writing economic essays.
This is surely not the first time you have heard of the ‘divide and conquer’ method – people use this a lot when tackling or attempting to solve a problem, dividing the problem into chunks of doable tasks to avoid the burden of thinking of the entire problem as something large and insurmountable. This method for problem solving may also be applied to writing economic essays – you simply need to divide the tasks into simpler ones and do those simpler tasks one at a time.
Before writing an economic essay, you may also be burdened by the thought that writing an essay is too difficult and overwhelming – writing essays means you have to come up with several ideas and then you’d have to organise all the ideas. Looking at it closely, however, you might see that the task in itself is not all that difficult. All you have to do is think of the subject matter. Second, you must know and list down what subtopics or ideas you want to include in your economic essay. These subtopics or ideas must be directly involved with the subject matter. Third, think of ideas that are indirectly involved with the subject matter.
In organising your thoughts for writing the economic essay, you must begin by answering what the essay question or subject matter asks you about. At this point of the essay writing process, you must already lay out your plan of writing and explaining the main theme or your key answer in the economic essay. This way, all your listed ideas that are directly involved in the subject matter can also be employed and explained in the paragraphs or sentences of the economic essay.
When you have reached the maximum number of words in your economic essay while still discussing the key ideas, then disregard the other ideas that are not directly relevant to the subject matter. The divide and conquer method is useful when you want to explain only the important details in your economic essay especially if you have a limited maximum number of words.
